SigniFire - smoke, flame and security video detection08 March 2011Fike now offers SigniFire™, the only digital network surveillance camera with embedded Video Image Fire & Smoke Detection (VIFD/VISD) software. SigniFire provides a combination of state-of-the-art video detection and advanced video surveillance capabilities in a single product family.
While recognising smoke and flames throughout large spaces at great distances, SigniFire also provides video surveillance capabilities. It detects fire in seconds, supplies vital situational awareness in the form of live video to remotely located guards, triggers fire alarms, and provides vast amounts of pre-recorded video forensic evidence for future fire investigations. SigniFire cameras can detect:
Deployed in conjunction with the Fike FSM-IP advanced Network Video Recorder (NVR) platform, SigniFire can address immediate security needs of your organisation. Large capacity internal storage provides continuous digital video recordings with instant access to current and archived events from virtually anywhere over local and public networks.
Ideally suited for applications that are in large-volume structures and/or contain high-valued assets, SigniFire's advanced early warning detection capabilities can dramatically reduce the loss a business would sustain in the event of a fire. Traditional fire detection methods are impractical and/or ineffective in these types of facilities. Typical applications where SigniFire video, flame, smoke and intrusion detection can be installed include:

SigniFire, the Future of VID Technology … TODAY SigniFire analyzes frames of video that are made up of 640 X 480 pixels. (Earlier analog cameras were only 320 X 240 pixels!) In addition, the SigniFire algorithms analyze 15 frames per second collecting the luma value (brightness) of each pixel. Which means the processor is analyzing over 4.5 million data points per second! Not only is the processor loaded with a flame detection algorithm, it also has a reflected fire light algorithm, as well as two types of smoke detection and a motion detection algorithm. The advancement of VID technology to the embedded analytics on the camera has allowed the SigniFire IP camera to look more like a traditional flame and smoke detection device. It also enabled LED indicators and contacts to move to the device location – a configuration more similar to conventional detection devices. With the dry contact closures on the camera, the communication loop is direct to the Fire Alarm Control Panel typically through an addressable module. Therefore the communication integrity does not have to take into account the sometimes numerous and long runs of coax cables from the cameras to the server. And because the device can sit directly on the FACP loop, the NFPA code mandated UPS only has to ensure the cameras (~5 W) stay active for 24 hours, rather than the cameras and servers (~200 W). The SigniFire system is very simple to configure and set-up, with no need to set up multiple detection zones or include multiple cameras in order to mitigate nuisance alarms. If users want to cross zone cameras they would typically do it at the fire alarm control panel. SigniFire represents a critical advantage for early warning fire detection, identifying and reacting to fire situations in their earliest stages, and protecting lives and property. SigniFire is FM approved for flame and smoke and UL listed (S24783). This unique video flame, smoke and intrusion detection system is part of Fike’s complete line of fire detection and control products, which include everything from sophisticated fire alarm systems to early warning detection and graphic event management systems.
