Freedor fire door hold-open device
The Freedor hold-open device from Fireco

Fireco has launched a new wireless device that holds fire doors open to improve access, but closes them when a fire alarm sounds.

Freedor is installed at the top of a fire door, allowing the door to swing freely and to be left in any position. When the device ‘hears’ a fire alarm at over 65dBA over a 14 second period, the fire door is released to close.

Freedor allows the door to be set at any angle up to 90 degrees and operate normally until activated. Features include adjustable closing speed, operation up to power size 4 (80kg fire door), and a night-time release facility. The device is suitable for left and right hand swing doors and can be installed on the opening or closing side of the door.

The device is designed to comply with BS EN 1154, BS EN 1155 and BS 7273-4 category C.
