VA/PA system for court complex

15 January 2010

A Crown court complex in London has had a voice alarm/public address system installed as part of a multi-million pound expansion.

The SigNet Integrity systems consists of two networked 42U racks, supporting a total of 331 BS 5839-compliant vandal resistant ceiling speakers across 18 separate PA zones. It also includes a custom-paging panel in the main reception and a firefighter’s microphone in the main security control room. SigNet says PC software enables a system to be designed and demonstrated prior to purchase, and its capacity for cause and effect scenarios to be tested and auditioned provides customer confidence and control over site evacuation strategies.

“The project involved the installation of a brand new fire alarm system and a combined Integrity voice alarm/public address system, within the existing Isleworth Crown Courts and a newly constructed ground to second floor extension,” said Mark Latawski of Caldera Fire & Security, the BAFE SP203 accredited company that installed the system. “The installation took place over a 13-month period, leaving the existing manual conventional fire alarm system with bells and separate public address system functional throughout. We chose Integrity due the fact that it is a flexible yet very powerful voice alarm.”
