The new school has been equipped with fire and disabled communications systems

A new £20m school has been equipped with C-Tec’s Quantec addressable call system, a SigTel disabled refuge system and a range of induction loop amplifiers for the hard of hearing.

Installation company Solid State installed the equipment at the Abraham Guest high school in Wigan.

The disabled refuge system is installed in the main foyer and is connected to 12 stainless steel hands-free outstations situated in the refuge areas around the building. In the event of an emergency, the system provides two-way communication between building management and people located in the refuge areas.

A SigNet Integrity 8-zone VA/PA system has also been installed at the site. In the event of an emergency, it is used to evacuate the entire school. Day-to-day, the system is used for paging and music.

The Quantec addressable call system has been installed to provide the 13 disabled washrooms with alarm facilities.
