Staff receive award after hotel blaze24 November 2011Staff who helped guests to safety during a fire at a Grade 1 listed hotel have picked up a special award in recognition of their service. Daniel Naylor, Paul Healey and Simon Oxley of the Peckforton Castle hotel in Tarporley were presented with the award at the Marketing Cheshire annual awards ceremony. They helped evacuate around 70 guests from the building when the fire broke out just before 5.00am on 19 June. Around 100 firefighters tackled the blaze which affected three floors of the hotel. A man has been charged in connection with the fire and is due to stand trial next month. The hotel also picked up an award for excellence in business tourism and was highly commended in the small hotel of the year category.
