Single tube air sampling detector housing for ventilation duct16 November 2009Gent by Honeywell has introduced a duct detector housing which can be used to shut down an air conditioning or ventilation plant, in order to prevent the spread of smoke and minimise fire damage. The detector requires only one tube to sample the air inside the duct, making installation quicker and easier, according to Gent by Honeywell product manager, Martin Phillips. "Our previous duct sensor had two tubes and was therefore more difficult to install. We have also made modifications to the design of the detector in order to ease installation. The base is now arrow shaped, signalling the direction of airflow which makes mounting in any orientation much quicker."
The former metal casing has been replaced by a plastic housing with a clear cover, so it's easy to see if the sensor has been activated, removing the necessity to fit a remote LED. It comes complete with an S-Quad base and it is recommended that a dual optical CO heat sensor is fitted. The housing also comes with a 0.6m venturi tube, or alternatively 1.2 and 2.8m lengths.
