Russians investigate UK knowhow at Firex North01 November 2010British fire exports received a potential boost last week when two Russian trade representatives visited the British Fire Consortium’s stand at Firex North in Manchester.
Head of commercial section, Dimitry Lebedev, and commercial advisor, Dimitry Kalmykov, paid a visit to the BFC stand find out more about best practice in fire safety management and suitable products and systems. According to the BFC, the emissaries were researching fire safety management strategies that could be implemented at Russian premises across the UK, which could potentially be rolled out to legations around the world as well as in Russia itself. “It’s not every day you meet a Russian commercial attaché in Manchester – let alone two of them,” said BFC head of training Ken Day. “We’ve been given a fairly detailed brief on the information they need regarding products as well as procedures. Early on they made sure we were aware that British products and fire expertise were up against German businesses, who had already put forward their advice with assurances that German knowhow is the best in the world. The Russians were adamant they were more than able to make evaluations for themselves! We liked them a lot.” Firex North took place on 27-28 October at Manchester Central. |
