Rockwool insulation put Valentines chocolates to the test

13 February 2012

Rockwool are proving the resilience of their fire insulation capabilities this Valentine’s Day by trying to set a box of chocolates on fire.

Easy you might think, but the chocolates are protected by Rockwool’s stone wool insulation.

Rockwool are the largest producer of stone wool insulation.

As part of a series of short films titled Does it Burn? – clearly inspired by Youtube phenomenon Will it Blend? – presenter Peter Halpin places various delicate objects into a house made of Rockwool’s insulation.

The house is then engulfed with flames for 5 minutes before we find out if the object has made it through the test unscathed.

Other items to have already undergone the test include an iPad, £1000 cash, and a water balloon.

Rockwool are also challenging members of the public to nominate objects to be given the Rockwool treatment.

Watch the video playlist below to find out if Peter’s Valentine will be disappointed tomorrow when he hands her a box of charred remains.
