Risk assessments and legislation to feature in new-style seminars

07 April 2011

Fire risk assessments and enforcement and prosecutions under the Fire Safety Order will be two of the free-to-attend seminar sessions at the Info4fire.com Learning Zone – held in association with the Fire Industry Association – at International Firex next month.

The new-format sessions will see presentations and discussion from two panels of leading experts in their fields.

In Taking the Risk out of Fire Risk Assessments on Monday 16 May, panel members will present and discuss the competence of fire risk assessors, the need for a national register of risk assessors, and the expectations of fire safety inspectors. Taking part are Nicholas Coombe, head of fire safety policy, London Fire Brigade and member of the Institution of Fire Engineers risk assessment technical panel; Simon Ince, manager of personnel certification schemes, Warrington Certification Ltd; and Colin Todd, fire safety consultant and chairman of the FIA risk assessment council.

On Wednesday 18 May, See You in Court? will be examining enforcement and prosecution issues. On the panel are Jonathan Herrick, fire safety policy manager, West Midlands Fire and Rescue Service; Nick McMahon, partner, Reynolds Porter Chamberlain solicitors; and Colin Todd, managing director of CS Todd & Associates and an expert witness in fire safety cases.
