Recycling factory blaze involved 100 bales of paper

19 March 2010

A fire at a paper recycling factory earlier this week is not being treated as suspicious, according to the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service.

The blaze, at the Parry Evans factory on Deeside Industrial Estate in Flintshire on Tuesday, took around 45 firefighters to put out.

Crews were called at 7pm when 100 bales of paper caught fire just outside the building. Firefighters worked for around two hours until the fire was sufficiently dampened down, a spokesman told info4fire.

Staff working at the factory were all safely evacuated and there are no reports of damage to nearby buildings, which were treated with cooling jets. One aerial ladder platform was used to tackle the flames and an enviromental protection unit was also present.

Officials at the North Wales Fire and Rescue Service are not treating the incident as suspicious. To view footage of the aftermath, see the YouTube video below.
