Newly redeveloped, Wellington Hospital is New Zealand’s main tertiary hospital and supplies specialist and acute services, including cardiac surgery, cancer care and neurosurgery. As part of its upgrade, which was project managed by main contractor Aquaheat Industries, older buildings were demolished, some were refurbished and a new main building was constructed. The new complex incorporates six storeys as well as underground parking.
More than more than 1,300 fire detection devices were installed across the complex. Apollo provided approximately 1300 Apollo XP95 and Discovery devices, as specified by fire system company Ampac Pacific - which controlled Apollo’s technology with nine Ampac FireFinder control panels.
Ampac’s panels were networked together and supported with the company’s own graphics package. A 50 zone emergency warning and intercommunications system developed by Ampac was also fitted.
