New Module for alarm management system

27 November 2009

Drax (UK) Ltd has introduced a new Gent network manager module for its AMX-1 alarm management system.

The new module has been developed to provide system integrators with a cost effective solution to connect Gent fire control panels to existing fire alarm networks comprising a range of different fire panels. This includes the Gent 3400 and Vigilon panels, allowing existing systems to be enhanced with the latest S-Quad range of sensors, which use patented dual angle optical scatter smoke detection to improve system performance.

"We work closely with manufacturers, systems integrators and users as well as fire and rescue services nationally to develop solutions that increase the effectiveness of fire detection in commercial and public sector premises," said Chris Wilkinson, business development manager at Drax (UK) Ltd. "This new network manager will enable users to upgrade their fire protection system to take advantage of the latest technological developments that will reduce the incidence of unwanted fire signals and consolidate our leading position in the market."

The AMX-1 alarm management system has been designed to integrate existing stand-alone fire protection networks and panels from leading manufacturers, as well as a wide range of security, access control, CCTV, lighting, HVAC and building management systems. This, says Drax, enables users to centralise the control and monitoring of these systems and to have an instant view of all data in a single display format that can be tailored to their requirements.

The system also allows system maintenance and inspection visits to be recorded from time of arrival on site, departure and the outcome of any tests carried out. Reports can be generated showing the time and date that individual devices went into a fire state or test mode, explains the company, enabling users and maintainers to focus their efforts on reducing unwanted alarms.
