AW Technology has designed a new test tunnel to calibrate optical smoke detectors and smoke alarms in high volume production.

The tunnel is designed to test and calibrate smoke detectors during production

The 1900 which has been based on the company’s 1000 detector test tunnel range, is now being used to test Fire Angel smoke alarms.

A spokesman for Aw Technology said: “The 1900 tunnel is the only commercially available test tunnel that includes an additional smoke sensor to ensure stability at a constant aerosol concentration. 

“Optical smoke detectors and smoke alarms require calibration in production to ensure that they meet the sensitivity range requirements of EN54-7 and EN14604.  Devices to be calibrated are fitted to trays that slide into the extended section on the left hand side of the tunnel.  The software controls the automatic test cycle, which includes the door interlock and signals that can control the calibration process.”

AW Technology is to demonstrate an original 1400 smoke/heat detector test tunnel at International Firex, at the NEC from 16 – 19 May.
