Modular architecture for addressable panels

16 October 2009

Siemens Building Technologies has launched two new addressable fire panels. The FC2030 panel can accommodate two loops with up to 252 field devices, while the FC2060 panel can accommodate four loops with up to 512 field devices. For larger systems, the FC2060 can be expanded to work with a maximum of 1512 field devices.

The modular system architecture allows as many as 32 panels to be networked together via a fire control network, with a maximum distance between panels of 1000m. This can be extended to 15,000m by using repeaters or fibre optic links, making it possible to provide protection for large and complex sites.

Using their BACnet interface, the panels can form the basis of a ‘danger management' system. To facilitate installation on sites where Ethernet has been adopted as the networking standard, they also include an Ethernet interface.

Siemens says the user interface has been developed to provide easy, intuitive operation. Standard keypads are used to access commonly performed functions, while interactive displays guide users step-by-step through more advanced functions.

For remote monitoring, SintesoView allows the panel's operating display to be viewed on a PC connected via a secure communications link. All of the functionality of the Sinteso panel, including the monitoring of alarms and the initiation of control functions, is accessible from the remote PC.
