London regeneration project uses Bilco smoke vents24 February 2010A regeneration project in the Isle of Dogs, London, has seen new residential buildings fitted with Bilco smoke vents.
A total of 26 of Bilco’s polyester powder coated smoke vents have been fitted in the roofs as part of the Crossharbour project - a scheme for the refurbishment and building of residential, office, hotel, leisure and retail units in the area. Seven of the vents can be used as access hatches to permit maintenance of equipment mounted on roofs. All of the vents are of single leaf design and are fitted with the company’s Bilguard railing system for safety. The linear actuators fitted to the vents are in accordance with British Standard EN12101-2. Andy Rogers, project manager with Tilbury Contracts, the roofing contractor on the Crossharbour project, said: “Bilco’s hatches and vents are generally specified on plans from architects because of their market-leading design.”
