Jet ski centre 'burned to the ground'22 November 2011A watersports centre near Reading was ‘burned to the ground’ after a fire raged through the clubhouse of the jet ski centre. Fire crews were called to attend the family-owned business, Lagoona Park Ski Club, in Pingewood, some time on the night of Saturday 5th November. Stray fireworks or arson have been ruled out at this stage. Firefighters spent around three hours dampening down the blaze, but by the time they arrived the clubhouse had been all but completely burned out. Speaking to the Reading Chronicle, fire officer Stuart Guntzenbach, from Whitley Wood fire station, said, “the whole hut is gutted. By the time we arrived it had completely burned to the ground.” Joint owner Shirley Mcleod-Ross explained to the paper that fortunately, the jet skis were safe and undamaged. The owners of Lagoona Park said yesterday on their Facebook page, “trying to look at rebuilding our business as soon as possible - but investigations are still ongoing so it is a long process.” |
