Passive Fire Protection Explained will combine technical presentations with live fire demonstrations. It aims to provide delegates with an understanding of the importance of passive fire protection, how passive protection products work, legislation and responsibilities, and the principles of testing, assessments and certification.

The course, said chief operating officer, Jon Osborn, aims to address “a perception within the fire industry that there is a lack of understanding of passive fire protection amongst those whose day-to-day roles bring them into contact with this important issue, especially in the light of recent fire tragedies and the responsibilities placed upon individuals under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order”.

Chiltern International Fire says the course (priced at £375 + VAT; £340 + VAT for Trada members), is aimed at local authorities, housing associations, building contractors, facilities/estates managers, fire stopping installation companies, electrical and plumbing contractors, architects and building control inspectors.

It will be held at the company’s High Wycombe site on 26 May and 27 October 2011.
