Fire suppression system is ‘GR-R-REAT’ for Kellogg’s factory

24 April 2011

A Kellogg’s cereal factory in Wrexham has been fitted with a fire suppression system by Nobel.

Specified by contractors Scarff Fire Safety, a K Series system was installed in the kitchen of the staff canteen.

Installation was carried out in four-hour shifts over a two-day period to try and minimise disruption at a site that operates around the clock.

“While the flexibility to work around the needs of the kitchen staff was of paramount importance,” a Nobel spokesman said, ”the proven efficiency and overall costs of the K-Series system were also taken into consideration by the contractors.

“The system needed to be installed quickly and Nobel exceeded all expectations by delivering and installing in just two days. An additional benefit is that the K-Series system has also provided an aesthetically pleasing kitchen environment with no ugly pipework or protruding nozzles on show.”

Nobel’s wet chemical solution, K-Series, has been designed to provide protection to cooking appliances, extract canopies and duct work.

Ben Parker, commercial director of Nobel said, “We were delighted to win this important contract and to have worked so closely with Scarff Fire Safety on completing the installation at the Kellogg’s facility.”
