Fire Solutions 2010 - free seminars aimed at installation and maintenance firms

10 May 2010

Security and electrical installation companies thinking of entering the fire protection business will be well catered for at a range of free seminars at IFSEC Fire Solutions this week.

The Fire Industry Association will be presenting a session entitled Moving into Fire Protection? This is what you need to know. The session will provide an overview of the main drivers of the fire protection businesses, such as legislation in the shape of the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 and standards such as BS5839-1.

The growing importance and role of third party certification of fire protection service providers will be the focus of another presentation from BAFE. The session will focus on the range of ‘adopted’ schemes that businesses comply with when they become BAFE registered, such as SP203 part 1 for the design, installation, commissioning and maintenance of fire detection and alarm systems.

Staying with the theme of companies moving into fire protection, LPCB will be presenting a seminar on LPS 1014, their standard for certificated fire detection and alarm system firms. The session will examine the process of achieving LPS 1014 certification, and will outline some of the common reasons for non-compliance. It will also cover authentication issues, such as checking claims of equipment compliance with product test standards.
