Fire safety courses for end users by Hochiki Europe01 September 2010Fire detection manufacturer Hochiki Europe is offering three separate courses on fire safety geared towards M&E contractors and consultants, architects and end users. The Emergency Lighting Standards & Design Considerations course has been designed to provide an overview of what is required when dealing with emergency lighting systems. It examines the Industry Committee for Emergency Lighting (ICEL) registrations and the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005, as well as other standards. False Alarm Reduction in Detection Systems has been built to offer delegates an insight into the problems caused by false alarms and how to avoid them. It looks at the standards involved, the measures taken by manufacturers to reduce false alarms, and how to select the right device for a particular area. The third course, Understanding the Selection, Spacing and Siting of Detectors, provides information on the updated BS5839 Part 1:2002 (Fire detection and alarm systems for buildings). It provides practical advice on the selection, spacing and siting of detectors, giving an overview of the requirements for designing a fire detection and alarm system. Each course, which should last approximately one hour, can be held at the customer’s premises. Graham Lowe, UK sales manager for Hochiki Europe, said: “Individuals involved with emergency lighting and fire detection continuously need to acquire knowledge and improve their skills in order to remain at the cutting edge. This new suite of courses backs up Hochiki Europe’s commitment to education and the sharing of its world class expertise.” For more information, go to: www.hochikieurope.com.
