Fire resistant solution for underground car parks11 August 2010Promat has released a high-density calcium silicate board with stone wool insulation into the passive fire safety market.
Its TLFR Board, part of Promat’s existing range of soffit insulation solutions, has been designed for underground car parks and similar applications where concrete is likely to be exposed. The board has been bonded to a stone wool insulation by Rockwool to provide high levels of fire, thermal and acoustic insulation Promat said, and should be fixed directly to the underside of concrete floors. Both the calcium silicate facing board and stone wool insulation of the TLFR Board have been designed to be non-combustible and when fitted to a 150mm concrete soffit it can provide up to three hours of fire resistance according to Promat. A spokesman for Promat said of the new product: “It can achieve U-value ratings as low as 0.20W/m2K. “The CFC and HCFC-free board is both impact and moisture resistant. Easy to install and maintain it can also contribute towards enhanced BREEAM ratings.” For more information go to Promat’s website at http://www.promat.co.uk/products/fire-protection/promat-tlfr-board.aspx
