Ductwork contains fire at luxury hotel10 January 2011Fire resisting ductwork has been praised for helping to contain a fire at the 5-star Grove Hotel in Watford. The fire last May was contained in the Flamebar BW11 fire-resistant kitchen ductwork which, say manufacturers Fire Protection Ltd, performed exactly as it was designed to. When fire crews were called, they were concerned the fire was in the roof but realised it was actually in the ducting above the kitchen area. Firefighters extinguished the flames before high pressure fans were used to clear the resulting smoke. 300 people were led to safety during the incident. Flamebar fire-resistant ductwork system is constructed from galvanised sheet steel, sprayed with a water-based fire protective compound. |
