Draka fire-resistant cabling in Dubai projects

Two major projects in the United Arab Emirates have specified fire-resistant cabling from Draka.

The Dubai Mall and Dubai Silicone Oasis (DSO) required nearly 30km of fire-resistant cabling between them, and chose from a selection of Draka’s Firetuf range.

The Dubai Mall is the largest shopping centre in the world by floor-area and is part of the $20 billion Burj Khalifa complex – the home of the tallest building in the world. With such a vast complex the project coordinators required cables that were both reliable and easy to install.

The Firetuf FT30 used to be called Firetuf Easystrip, and according to the manufacturer is noted for the fastest ever sheath removal, small bending radius, and easy dressability.

All of Draka’s cables are halogen free, low smoke (OHLS) meaning they emit very little smoke in a fire. This was an important also consideration at the Silicon Oasis – a new technology park in the region.

These two projects are the latest in a string of developments Draka have been involved with in the region, as we reported earlier this year.
