Chain actuators retrofitted to windows of high rise flats

16 November 2010

SE Controls has supplied a fire protection solution to a high rise block of council-owned flats in Greenwich, London.

Azile Everitt House in London fitted with fire protection

Azile Everitt House, a 13-storey block originally built in 1974,had chain actuators retrofitted to windows in common areas on all floors. Each bank of actuators was linked by a single cable back to a single Osloop control panel from SE Controls.

Osloop control systems, which work on single cable connections, offer actuator monitoring to determine actuator condition and correct operation. London Fire Brigade, which has been linked to the system, requested that a repeater panel was installed at the entrance to the property giving the status of automatic opening vents.

A spokesman for SE Controls said: "The installed system of Osloop controller and actuators offers a simple and highly effective solution for existing buildings to be fitted with a smoke control system. SE Controls is working closely with Greenwich London Borough Council on ensuring other buildings owned by the council are similarly protected."

The upgrade is expected to be completed next month.
