Over 20,000 metres of cable has been installed to power the life safety systems at the new Cardiff City Stadium, home to Cardiff City Football Club and the Cardiff Blues rugby union team.
Prysmian's FP Plus cable was installed by subcontractors Tiger Fire & Security, under instruction from primary electrical contractor NG Bailey.
"We used FP Plus enhanced cable in the life safety electrical installation, white for the public address and voice activation systems and red for the fire alarm system," said Russell Morgan, site project manager at Tiger Fire & Security. "I like using Prysmian cable as it dresses very well and bends whilst still holding its shape. Secondly, it strips very easily and is simple and quick to terminate. Thirdly, the cable complies with all the relevant standards, a necessity for a stadium fit-out where thousands of people could be at risk in an emergency."
Prysmian says FP Plus is fully compliant with all the requirements for enhanced cables approved for fire detection and fire alarm critical signal paths to BS5839-1:2002, voice alarm systems to BS5839-8:2008 in enhanced application areas and emergency lighting systems to BS5266-1:2005.
