An infants school in south Wales has been completely destroyed after a major fire last week.
The fire broke out at Ynysboeth school in Mountain Ash just before midnight last Thursday, according to BBC News. At the height of the blaze, more than 50 firefighters were in attendance using 14 fire engines and support vehicles.
A joint police and fire service investigation is under way.
The local authority is building temporary accommodation to house around 100 children for the last few weeks of the school year.
Incident commander Peter Jenkins of South Wales Fire Service told BBC News it was a very severe fire. "Within 15 minutes of the fire service being on scene virtually every classroom and room in the school was totally involved in fire. The fire spread rapidly across the flat roof of the building.”
The severity of the fire prevented crews from entering the building so the main objective was to contain the fire and stop it spreading to a nearby electronics factory.
