The Stairlight system is made up of high output, low consumption white LEDs fitted within a staircase handrail.
A spokesman from P4 said: “This package brings aesthetic appeal to difficult to fit areas such as atriums, making unsightly emergency luminaires fitted to walls and ceilings a thing of the past.
“The result is a high level of illuminance and outstanding lighting uniformity which combine to eliminate unlit areas on stair treads and half landings often caused by conventional emergency lighting.
The system, designed to give typically 50,000 hours of operating life, can be retrofitted to existing staircases or integrated into a new build.
It works using with P4 “self-testing” technology, Fastel. The software offers three basic systems, the stand alone, the remote monitoring and the computer addressable - an internet or intranet interface designed to allow users to check smaller satellite sites from a central control point.
