24 tonnes of cheese lost in lorry blaze06 June 2011A lorry carrying 24 tonnes of cheese caught fire last week, leading to the closure of a motorway in Somerset. The vehicle, travelling down the A359 near Castle Cary, was well alight by the time crews got there at 7.52am on 2 June. The road was subsequently closed, prompting a headline in the Independent: Cheese fire causes meltdown on the A359. Around 20 firefighters attended the blaze, which took around an hour to extinguish.
