A water mist system was selected to protect Tudor House

A museum situated in a 15th century building in Southampton is to be protected with a water mist system from Marioff.

The Tudor House museum is undergoing an extensive refurbishment, including the installation of the company’s Hi-Fog system.

Protecting such an old structure presents many challenges for a fire protection system: there is very little space for installing such systems, and visual aesthetics must be preserved.

Marioff says the system’s small pump unit and water reservoir made it suitable for Tudor House, as does narrow tubing, which can be bent on site allowing for easier installation and discrete fitting. Small sprinkler heads also contribute to minimising the impact on the fabric of the building.

When it reopens in the summer of 2011, visitors will be able to learn about the history of the Tudor House through the lives of the people who once lived and worked there, as well as enjoy the reconstructed 16th century Tudor Knot Garden.
