100 firefighters battle Milwaukee house fire

14 June 2010

Around a dozen firefighters were injured after a serious house fire in Milwaukee last weekend.

100 firefighters attended the blaze at a vacant family home, which was reported around 7.30pm on Friday. Local news reports told how the fire quickly spread to a neighbouring house where residents were forced to flee.

While there were no fatalities, a number of firefighters were treated in hospital for bruising and scrapes after reportedly slipping over water-laden equipment.

Around 16 ladder trucks and engines were in attendance. The Milwaukee Wisconsin Journal said the fire was extinguished later the same night. The fire has left 12 people without homes.
