A report into the Channel Tunnel fire in 2008 – which destroyed a 1km section of the tunnel and disrupted services for six months – has been published.

As part of new measures following the Channel Tunnel fire in 2008, Eurotunnel has completed a full scale test of a new fire protection system using water mist.

The disruption to Channel Tunnel services this week – this time because of adverse weather conditions – is the worst since the fire in September 2008 disrupted services for six months. But what if a fire broke out in similar conditions?
